SAMA Bedford’s Saint Patrick’s Luck of the Irish Live Music event featuring the Celtic folk band, Across the Pond. This holiday affair will be held at the Bedford County Historical Society’s beautiful and unique Hall at Kinton’s Knob located at 6441 Lincoln Hwy, Bedford, PA 15522. Doors open at 4:00 p.m. with Irish food and drink favorites. Don’t miss this Gaelic shindig that continues until 8:00pm and is sure to be a whale of a time! Must be 21 or older and cost to attend is $75 per person in advance or $85 the day of the event. Tickets are limited and can be purchased on our website at https://www.sama-art.org/event-list. Try not to spill your green beer while you listen to songs like "Whiskey in the Jar," while you listen to the Across the Pond, a high-energy band from South-Central Pennsylvania. This multi-instrumental trio has been sharing their take of traditional Irish music throughout the Mid-Atlantic region for ten years performing their own high-energy arrangements of Irish and Scottish tunes and songs. Across the Pond has created a full Irish experience that can be found without having to buy a plane ticket to Ireland. Saint Patrick's Celebration: Irish Music Night: Presented by Pennwood Ophthalmic Associates, Timber Ridge Chiropractic and Lynn Ashe... Enjoy live music by the popular Irish band, Full Kilt (5-8pm) followed by the Internationally-acclaimed concert documentary, Echoes: The Story, featuring music Byrne and Kelly (featuring Celtic Thunder stars Ryan Kelly and Neil Byrne.) (The Chamber Foundation's Byrne and Kelly benefit concert scheduled for June 4, 2020 was postponed due to Covid-19. It is rescheduled for Friday, July 2nd, 2021.) Easter on the Rails - Create a new Easter tradition on the rails at the East Broad Top Railroad and the Rockhill Trolley Museum. Ride the train and hunt for eggs, then ride a trolley and meet the Easter Bunny! The experience begins with an open-air train ride, perfect for taking in the fresh spring breeze! Passengers will depart the Historic Orbisonia Station for a round-trip excursion over the newly restored mainline through the scenic Aughwick Valley. Once back in the railyard, families can participate in a COVID-friendly egg hunt for a chance to find sweet treats or other special surprises. Passengers will then transition to a trolley ride at the Rockhill Trolley Museum to meet the Easter Bunny and take home a special gift for each child. Enjoy a nostalgic tour aboard an antique electric streetcar past historic industrial ruins and steep mountain narrows alongside the picturesque Blacklog Creek. The Bedford County Historical Society is pleased to announce the “Historian of the Years” award for 2019 and 2020.        The 2019 Winners, David and Amy Snyder, will be recognized for their renovation of the “Loy Mansion” and research on the history of the village of Loysburg as it relates to the patriarch Martin Loy. The 2020 Winner, Regina Williams, will be recognized for her publications on SHS and Facebook on the townships of Southampton, Mann & Monroe and being one of the leaders to form the Southampton Twp. Historical Society and preservation of the Point Pleasant School. This year’s speaker will be Dr. Robin L. Cadwallader, professor of English/Communications and Women’s Studies at St. Francis University. In Recognition of passage of the Suffrage Amendment, she will discuss instances of local patriarchal opposition. They will be honored at the Annual History Banquet on August 14th 2021 at 6:00 PM at the Hall at Kinton’s Knob (2nd floor of the Bedford County Historical Society) 6441 Lincoln Highway, Bedford. Bedford County 250th Anniversary Parade: Following Veterans Day Parade in Bedford Boro. 2-3pm. The route begins at the National American Coverlet Museum and travels along Juliana Street; turns left onto John Street; right onto Thomas Street; right onto Pitt Street; and concludes at the Bedford County courthouse front steps. In addition to the public being encouraged to attend, families are encouraged to bring their children and other members of their family. The year 2021 marks the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Act by which Bedford County was erected of Cumberland County. Bedford Elks Halloween Parade in Downtown Bedford - The annual Bedford Elks Halloween Parade will start at the east end of town, travel up East Pitt Street, and turn left onto Juliana Street where it will pass in front of the judges stand before disbanding at the Bedford County Courthouse. The parade will begin to form at 6:30pm. Individuals or organizations interested in being part of the parade may pick up a registration form at the office of the Bedford Borough - Bedford, PA, or download from the Downtown Bedford, Inc., Facebook page. A handful of actors bring dozens of characters to the stage, as the familiar story unfolds: Three ghosts take Ebenezer Scrooge on a thrilling journey to teach him the true meaning of Christmas.
